Who is Studying?

We’re excited to share with you another in our Bible Study Series. The information presented herein will better prepare those who complete this study for the upcoming teaching: “Deceived or Rebellious!” We urge you to use a hard copy of the Bible rather than a mechanical device to help you complete the following study. The goals for our Bible Study Lessons are to encourage readers to use their Bibles and to become actively engaged in the learning process. The answers you give are only for your benefit. Please do not email them to us unless you have questions. The answers and study materials are from the King James Bible. Repeat the study until you can correctly fill in the blanks without looking up the answers.

Study Questions

  1. We are commanded by God to seriously study the Bible. This imperative command, not a suggestion, is given in First Timothy 3:16: Study to shew thyself approved unto ________, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
  2. When we STUDY the Bible, we are showing ourselves to be approved by Whom? _____________
  3. If a person is a workman in his or her study of the Word, then he should not be __________________
  4. What kind of a person is shown to STUDY the word by his/her diligence? ________________
  5. Why would a person who is correctly studying the Bible not be ashamed? In other words this person should be able to ____________ divide the word of truth; that is, he or she should be able to correctly interpret and apply Scripture contextually (according to the context in which the word is used).
  6. A major precept of Biblical studies is to learn to study the words as they are given according to which of the following: (a) Strong’s Concordance, (b) someone with a theological degree, (c) the most popular TV evangelist, (d) by comparing five different versions of the Bible and choosing the one you feel is best, (e) according to the context in which the word is used, (f) by asking someone who says he is a Hebrew or Greek scholar. While several of the above might give you the answer for which you are looking, it is best to learn to study the immediate and surrounding text and cross references as well as some outside readings but always return to the immediate contextual text in the Bible to determine HOW the Word is used. Context, after all, is how we daily learn to interpret what people say to us.
  7. The Bible is the ________ of truth. See 1 Timothy 3:16.
  8. What people did God praise for their diligent verification of the Scriptures which they heard? ______________ And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea; who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble [the Bereans] than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and __________________ the _______________________ __________, whether those things were _____. Acts 17;10-11
  9. There are many different versions of the Bible today. Who created the first nonbiblical version of God’s Word by changing one word? Now the _______________ was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made … Genesis 3:1
  10. What is the one word which Satan changed that deceived Eve and resulted in Adam’s disobedience? And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall ________ surely die. Genesis 3:4 Did Adam (and Eve) die? __________How can you prove that Adam died? And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he _____________. Genesis 5:5 Through Adam’s disobedience, death was brought into the world.
  11. Both Adam and Eve died because they disobeyed God’s command to not eat of what tree? _____________________________________________ But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:17

It has been said that the New Testament is camouflaged in the Old Testament and the Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament. An example of such interconnectivity between the two testaments is given in First Timothy 2:14 which tells us that Eve was deceived but Adam rebelled against God.

Adam was not deceived as was Eve. And Adam was ________ deceived, but the woman being _______________________ was in the transgression. Whether we are deceived by wrong doctrine, or we rebel against what we know the Bible says, we will be held accountable by God. Thus, it behooves us to carefully study the Bible for ourselves and to check out anything that is written or spoken regarding the Word of God.

That’s perhaps why God gives so many warnings not to change any part of the Bible. Most understand in part the effect of Satan changing just one word spoken by God; however, many do not consider the thousands of changes that are made each time a different version of the Bible is written. Some even feel the New King James Bible is about the same as the King James Bible; yet, they likely do not know there are more than 100,000 differences between the two aforementioned texts. This is according to the research done by Dr. D. W. Waite (Bible for Today).Through a computer analysis, he was able to track each of the changes, not only made by New King James authors, but even more changes made by the other authors of the new version Bibles.

Additionally, the U.S. Derivative copyright law states anyone who produces a new version of the Bible must avow to make thousands of changes in order to show that the new work is his authorship! It is authors who are granted copyrights and thus and are given control of the distribution of their works.

The words in the Scriptures in the King James Bible are not bound by man’s copyright: … but the word of God is ______ bound. 2 Timothy 2:9 The Scriptures in Bibles produced after that of the King James are copyrighted; they are AUTHORED and controlled by those who hold the copyright: they are “bound” by copyright ©.

Changing thousands of words to obtain a Bible copyright should raise a red flag as God warns repeatedly to not change even the smallest part of His Word.  See Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32, Proverbs 30:6, etc. The New Testament ends with a final warning against the alteration of God’s words. This is recorded in Revelation 22:18, (Notice it is Revelation NOT RevelationS.) 19:

For I [Jesus] testify unto ___________ man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall _________ unto these things, God shall add unto him the ______________ that are written in this book:  And if any man shall _________ _________ from the words of the book of this prophecy, _________ shall _________ ________ his part out of the __________ of life, and out of the ________ city, and from the things which are written in this book.

  1. From where did the words preserved in the Bible come? For the prophecy came not in old time by the _______ of man: but _________ men of ________ spake as they were _________ by the _________ Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21
Most new version authors remove the vital adjective holy (but holy men of God) in this verse, including the New King James authors who remove the word holy through one of their hundreds of critical footnotes: “NU-Text reads but men spoke from God.” There’s a huge difference between men and holy men!
  2. How does God verify the absolute accuracy of His Words? He records: The _________ of the LORD are pure words: as _________ tried in a furnace of earth, ____________ __________ times. Thou shalt _________ them, O __________, thou shalt _________________ them from this generation for ever. Psalm 12: 6-7 How long does the LORD say He will preserve His Words? ______________________________________________
  3. How do we know that Jesus is God manifest in the flesh? And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was ______________ in the ___________, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, _________________ on in the world, received up into glory. 1 Timothy 3:16 Behold, a virgin [Mary] shall be with child [Jesus], and shall bring forth a _______, and they shall call his name __________________, which being interpreted is, _______ with us. Matthew 1:23
  4. In addition to Jesus being God manifest in the flesh, the Scripture tells us that Jesus is the WORD: In the beginning was the __________, and the Word was with God, and the Word ________ God. 14 And the Word was made _____________, and dwelt among us … John 1:1, 14 Thus, those who choose to rewrite Scripture are changing the Word!
