Behold the Lamb of God: Part 2
Behold the Lamb of God! Part 2
… My son, God will provide Himself a lamb … This prophetic statement by Abraham, recorded in Genesis 22:8, should be words that awe-strike all Christians; that is, if we can even begin to conceptualize what it really means.
God reveals to us, through the pen of the Apostle Paul, that Abraham was instructed beforehand by God; and thus, by faith, he was able to make this dual prophetic statement about the fate of his son Isaac and to prophesy what would take place some 2000 years later—the Crucifixion and Resurrection. … God … preached before the gospel unto Abraham … Galatians 3:8. And in the book of Hebrews, we’re told that it was by the faith of Abraham, in the Word of God, that he was able to offer up Isaac as a sacrifice in this seemingly bizarre act of obedience to God. Study Hebrews 11:17-19.
Additionally, Abraham also named this place where he offered Isaac to be a sacrifice Jehovah-jireh which means … In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. Genesis 22:14 Thus, Abraham was also prophesying where the Crucifixion would take place—on this very mountain range.
Abraham foretold: It was God manifest in the flesh!
Yes, these were miraculous, prophetic words of Abraham from Genesis 22:8 spoken some 2000 years before Jesus was crucified: God will provide himself a lamb. (John the Baptist gave the same prophetic message when he proclaimed … Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29 Abraham made a profound statement of the deity of Jesus Christ: It was God manifest in the flesh as Jesus on that cross at Golgotha, Mt. Moriah.
God did NOT provide FOR HIMSELF a lamb but provided HIMSELF the sacrificial lamb. This was God with us. Abraham’s actions were a similitude of what WOULD happen when our Father in Heaven SENT (begot) Himself in the person of Jesus Christ to become the sacrifice.
See below how the new version authors greatly change the meaning of what was being prophesied by Abraham regarding the Crucifixion and Who Jesus is.
Thus, Abraham did not thrust his raised knife through the heart of Isaac. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. Genesis 22:13
There is vital cross-reference information identifying Who Jesus is, but it is often misunderstood because of incorrect translations.
The book of Philippians gives additional insight … Christ Jesus … Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. Philippians 2:5-6 Again, the new version authors confuse readers by mistranslating the underlying text implying that Jesus could not comprehend being equal with God—quite the opposite of what is stated in the Greek text and in conflict with many other Scriptures.
Study the table below which shows the Greek underlying text and how that text is accurately translated in the KJ Bible; but, conversely how new version authors create wording that isn’t in the Greek text.
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19 Jesus understood. He WAS God manifest in the flesh. He always spoke truth … Jesus Christ. This IS the true God, and eternal life. 1 John 5:20
Remember, Scripture always confirms Scripture.
The King James Bible AND the new version authors confirm in another Scripture—John 5:18—that what is translated in the King James Bible is correct (in Philippians 2:6). John 5:18 is correctly translated from the underlying Greek text by both the KJ translators and the new version authors. They each record in John 5:18 the fact that Jesus KNEW Who He was: Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he [Jesus] not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. The words in red are those recorded in all major versions of the Bible in John 5:18.
Why is this important to defend? There are many who falsely teach that Jesus was a great prophet, but deny He was deity: God in the flesh.
The Scripture teaches that God was manifest in the flesh.
This crucified, only begotten Son Jesus Christ—as Scripture proves—was God manifest in the flesh. He (God) became flesh in the person of Jesus when the Holy Ghost supernaturally impregnated Mary with Jesus: Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Luke 1:34-35 Matthew tells readers: … they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us … and he [Joseph] called his name JESUS. Matthew 1:21-25
Few Christians debate the fact that Jesus was crucified; however, it’s also important to understand and defend WHO Jesus is—part of the Godhead; yet, God.
For in him [Jesus] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Colossians 2:9 God is manifest as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit; cumulatively, the Godhead. How is the Godhead manifest*? The three are one as explained in First John 5:7-8. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word [Jesus], and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. Again, First John 5:20 records … Jesus is the true God, and eternal life. (*Manifest: to make clear or evident to the eye or the understanding; to show plainly.)
This may be difficult to comprehend; however, perhaps a personal example will help. I am a mother, a widow, a writer, a teacher, a tennis player, etc. In each of these profiles, I function in a different capacity, but I’m still Judith. God tells us through the pen of Timothy in First Timothy 3:16:
… God was manifest in the flesh [as Jesus],
- [He was] justified in the Spirit,
- [He was] seen of angels,
- [He] preached unto the Gentiles,
- [He was] believed on in the world,
- [He was] received up into glory.
These vital statements specifically identify God as Jesus with several proofs. However, the new version texts record the indefinite pronoun he for the specific name of God, either in the text or a conflicting footnote. See the table below.
… Christ Jesus Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. Philippians 2:5-6 Jesus WAS equal with God; He was God manifest in the flesh. However, in the Person of Jesus, He was submissive to the Father (took on the submissive position of the Son). Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which … is, God with us … And [Joseph] knew her not [Mary] till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he [Joseph] called his name JESUS. Matthew 1:23-25 … his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 1 John 5:20
God is our Saviour.
Jude, the half-brother of Jesus, made the statement:
To the only wise God our Saviour. Jude 1:25
In so doing, he tied together God and Jesus our Saviour. Again, here is another strong statement of deity. God (manifest in the flesh) IS our savior Who is also Jesus. However, new versions diffuse this clear statement; some directly in the text; others, in a critical footnote, such as with the NKJV shown below. (NU-Text is a corrupted Greek text created by Wescott and Hort in 1881. They were occultists who denied the deity of Jesus Christ.) Notice, the NKJV authors make doctrinal changes both in their text and in their critical footnote:
Do you see a pattern with examples throughout this teaching on the repeated attacks (some subtle; others blatant) on Scriptures which are clear statements of deity—showing that God is Jesus manifest in the flesh, including Genesis 22:8, Philippians 2:6, 1 Timothy 3:16, and Jude 1:25? However, the question to ponder is, “Do you KNOW Who Jesus is?” Not only did Jude and other New Testament writers KNOW, but so did John the Baptist and his family.
Part Three of this series helps the reader to explore additional supernatural statements through John the Baptist’s parents as they give insight for us to the Horn of Salvation and provide interconnecting evidence of the oneness of the Old and New Testaments and the Lamb of God.
